Welcome
I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas who has obtained Science 7-12 teaching certification through UTeach at UT Dallas. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Secondary STEM Education.
My love for science sparked my freshman year of high school in my biology class. For the first time, I began to understand how complex and layered life is. The world we observe with our naked eye is dependent on trillions upon trillions of interactions between tiny atoms, bonding in various combinations and conformations to produce everything we know. Certain small (or sometimes relatively large) molecules, comprised of these atoms- proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids- were driving all of the complicated processes inside of humans and all other life on Earth. The sheer complexity was mind-boggling! Things that I had previously never given much thought, like the very act of breathing, suddenly became intensely interesting. Learning about chemistry and physics only added new and rich layers to my understanding of the world and our place in it, and I knew that science was going to be a lifelong passion. I'm excited to now have the opportunity to share that passion for science with my students and hopefully set them, too, on a path to becoming lifelong learners, questioners, and scientists. |
